Available options

All options come on a swivel

Often being told that projects can be as clear cut as the road map. The terrain of your project is hardly ever considered. Also, you might make a discovery that can impact your business requiring you to request changes after project kick-off.  But changes can cost you a fortune and some companies will not budge from the initial requirements forcing you away from your best interest.  Trying to keep the options simple while welcoming ideas and changes as your project unfolds I let you take command. My job is to provide you with the experience necessary to provide solid consultation and help build your vision into reality.  As a small business and family man all I ask nothing more than paying me for my time. In return I offer some of the best rates on this side of the US and you can rest easy knowing that your company's best interest is kept in mind and along with our your objectives and budget.  I have designed options to be as simple as I can while retaining some insurances for my time and with a base rate starting at  $38 dollars an hour I am confident you will not find a better deal for this sort of quality and care for your project.

Options Overview

Options 1 and 2 can align with most types of progress payments but final payments are not made upon completion as ALL hours are retained upfront. Options 1 and 2 are eligible for hold backs of up to 15% to be paid upon completion to insure that there are no delays. However, hold backs are based on an internal decision based on many factors and is not formal nor required. If projects go smooth over time, I may leverage 20 hours on good faith with other projects in the future. But as this is descision I am very careful of, these sort of terms are rarely personal but have more to do with work flow, balance and return throughout our relationship in general. All and all it can take months to develop a business relationship such as this.

With options 1 and 2 I do offer an hour of free consultation.  However please consider retaining more time to iron out details. Often an hour of drawing a road map based on vague requirements is barely even an inkling of foresight in comparison to the terrain and conditions experienced on the journey.  Also, with options 1 and 2 I do not manage project scope and work only as a hired hand to help.

As time is retained up front you can cancel service at any time and recieve a refund of the remaining amount.

Work stops immediately once funds remain unavailable or are exhausted. It is recommended to stay ahead on payments to ensure that there are no delays.

Option 3 aligns perfectly with most types of progress payments. I do either thirds or in halves based on many factors with the final payment upon completion.  Also, estimates are free.  This is the only option where I except payment upon completion and not every project qualifies.

Options Detail:

  • Option 1 (Hourly) – Rates are $38 and hour flat without any attention to scope. Also I am asking for retainers of hours up front and does not need to be project specific but using time in reservation is on a "when available" basis.
  • Option 2 (Project Cap) – With estimated project caps my rates fluctuate with caps depending on how close the cap comes to an estimate. Starting $38 an hour my caps start at an additional 70% in hours added to the as a cap. This option is the related closely to option 1 with the only differences being the hourly rate can fluctuate from project to project and you can have some certainty it will not cost more than the caps.
  • Option 3 (Fixed Price/Free Estimate) – Fixed price estimates start at $75 an hour with up to a $37 an hour refund depending on how much time I go over the estimate. Meaning if I estimate 30 hours and it gets done in 30 hours you get $1110 back. I do this because fixed price estimates are usually negotiated and as $75 dollars an hour is the going rate for freelance development here in the US a potential refund makes option 3 competitive offer while benefiting clients with rigid milestones. This is because I am able to work more hours without a loss on my end to meet strict deadlines.  The rebate is also a great incentive to ensure the scope is clearly defined.  Please refer to retainers and payments for more details.
